With renewed vigor and new talented members, IGFX is back with a bang! March 2010 was a huge turning point for us with the introduction of the new Monthly Duties besides the other major projects. So far, we have had 5 successful MDs [as we like to call them] and are now into our 6th one this August. The purpose of introducing them into our group was to allow for our members to explore the regions of the graphics’ world they otherwise wouldn’t try out. Each of these MDs have a single theme and with it, the members can make whatever they want to ranging from simple avatars, to complex manipulations and even collaborations! Indeed, things have got pretty exciting over the past few months~
With regards to our larger projects, we are currently working on a collaboration. Yes, folks! A collab with nearly all of our members, so the very diverse outcome is one to look out for!

As I mentioned earlier, we have new members, and the Member List has been updated with their details.

We hope we won’t fall into a slump again. If we do, we will always somehow pick ourselves up, dust our pants, and get on with it once more! By the way, we now have a deviantART page where we have put up a lot of our works on display~ We’ll keep you updated every two weeks from now on along with some Freebies for you to enjoy! Have fun until then~

The Mechanics

At the front page of yinyanganime.com, there is a widget that displays 5 random images from the site’s gallery. The challenge: use one of those images to create a signature. No refreshing and refreshing until you get an image you like. That’d be cheating, and that’s a definite no-no! But if you got a nice image as you first loaded the page, well, lucky you! If not, well, that’s the challenge right there!

It’s not a contest against other gfx artists, but a challenge against one’s own skills. To learn one of the important gfx skills: making use of limited resources to make something great ;D

The project ran from April 11-19, 2009. And here are the artists that braved the randomness of the image selection and made their awesome gfx creations:

We have an update! haha. Sorry for stopping them, I was kinda busy with schoolwork and some other stuff. However, since it’s spring break and all, I thought I’d churn out one while I had the chance. Furthermore, we’re getting a new member today so I thought I should show him that there’s still life in our little family. XD

Welcome AtomicoX!

So first things first: let’s all welcome AtomicoX to our little family of sorts. I know not everyone has had a chance to vote on whether to bring him in or not but since the majority already said they had no objections I thought there was no need to wait to bring him in. After all, the sooner he joins the sooner he gets to take part in the fun right?

(Which means you’ll HAVE to join this week’s project just to show willing. But of course I kid. =9

Weekly Project 3

Which brings me to the next thing on the update: our weekly project. As .Lovebeat said in her thread, you’ll need to take a random extract from the gallery and make a signature from it. It has to be totally random. No cheating! If you cheat, you will be smitten (smote? smite?) by the Gods of Copyright, because the Gods of Cheating are busy atm. Project: Avalon

Next is Balance’s website redesign. Or as it’s officially called *cue epic soundtrack* PROJECT AVALON. There’s really nothing much happening with it at the moment BUT if any of you have any ideas or if Balance himself (u da man!) has any instructions, then by all means make a thread and we shall make it our next monthly project. Go young warrior! *cut epic soundtrack*

Project: Shirt Design

Which again leads us smoothly to the next thing on the update: our previous monthly project. As I hope you still remember, Mira had a T-shirt desing contest running for last month (as you can see here [link]) which saw one entry from mikadzuki. I’m not sure if she’s still accepting designs but I thought I’d give it a little shout-out.

And that’s about it for this week’s update. As always, if you have any questions/comments/suggestions, just reply in this thread, or, alternatively, catch me on MSN. I’d like to apologize for the delay of this update. Things have been a tad, uh, hectic, what with school and whatnot. And it doesn’t help that I’ve suddenly found myself addicted to an MMORPG. x_x I’m sorry!

I’d also like to apologize for the delay on the Stars that I promised for those of you who did the weekly project. I just haven’t found the time to do it. I’m sorry. If anyone wants to design the stars, you’re more than welcome to do so.

This’ll be a short one. I just wanted to remind everyone that the T-Shirt design project is up and running and you can submit any kind of design you want, just as long as it fits the template that Mira has given us. Check it out.

Also, as Jaggy has so nicely reminded me, we now have our two new Recruiters/Scouts. Congratulations .Lovebeat and MaruDashi! If  anyone has any suggestion as to who you want to join our little family, please take it up with them.

And lastly, this week’s project is: make 3 PS (Or whatever program of your choice) brushes. This has been suggested by Balance and should be a fun exercise for all of us. As always, it’ll be due a week from now and you get a gold star for completing it.

Main Updates

So, before I launch into an intro of our new home, let me get the updates out of the way. First, there’s Maru’s request for us to send her our ten [10] best sigs of 2008. She says it’s gonna be fun, and I’m sure it will be, so send it over guys.

Next is the voting for Intuition’s new scouts/recruiters. Make sure you read what they have to say before you vote though, so that way, you don’t just blindly choose whomever.

Our new home, explained.

Right. So with that out of the way, it’s time to explain our new home. Since this was designed with the idea that this would be a sort of iGFX portal to the real world, we’re hoping that this’ll have at least some semblance of professionalism in it. You know, like those found in other designer sites. Maybe some articles about how to do a particular style, or maybe links to resources, or even just basic tips and tricks.

That being said, there’s also a place in this site for everyone to just post whatever it is they want to post. Think of it as your very own space in cyberspace. Treat it like a blog, treat it like a dumping place for links, treat it like whatever – it’s your space. You’ll just have to register of course. Also, if you do decide to post something personal, it’d be appreciated if you posted it under the category of, well, “Personal” (no duh) and maybe tag it with a “personal” as well as your own username. Aside from that, there’s really no rules as to what you can or cannot post.

And if you’re a little lost as to how to register, no worries. That’s why I’m here. To register, just click the little “Register” (again, no duh) link that can be found somewhere in the bottom left part of the site, under the heading “Meta.” Put in your username and an email and you’re done! Simple.
